First Step 30th Anniversary Event
Raffle Rules

 

 

  1. Each ticket will cost $25.00 if sold individually or they can be sold as a group of 5 to the same individual for a discounted price of $100. More than one person may share in the raffle ticket purchase. 
  2. A person or entity may purchase a maximum of 50 tickets. No more than 1,000 tickets will be sold.  If a minimum of 200 tickets are not sold then First Step reserves the right to cancel this raffle and return the full value of the ticket purchase price to purchasers.  If more than 250 but less than 400 tickets are sold, First Step reserves the right to issue a First Place Prize of $4,000 and Second Place Prize of $1,200.  Once more than 400 tickets have been sold, the prizes are as stated on the tickets. The directors, officers and employees of First Step and members of their immediate households are not eligible to win.
  3. Individual purchasers of raffle tickets must be 18 years of age or older.
  4. Each numbered Raffle ticket stub will be placed in the Raffle ticket container.
  5. First Step shall appoint a single individual who will be responsible for maintaining control and security of all of the Raffle ticket stubs. Such individual shall, by public certification under oath at the time of the drawing, certify that all Raffle tickets purchased have their stub in the container of stubs where the winning Raffle ticket will be drawn.
  6. The public drawing will be on April 30, 2009 during the course of First Step’s 30th Anniversary Event at Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, Maryland and will be between the hours of 8pm and 9:30pm ET.  You may attend the drawing by purchasing a ticket for the event (separate purchase required). .
  7. You need not be present to win.
  8. Winners will be notified by phone and certified mail return receipt requested by May 15, 2009.
  9. The Raffle winners have (15) days from the date of notification to respond in writing that they have accepted the prize they are due.  Prizes not claimed by May 31, 2009 will be forfeited. At the winners discretion, they may take a cash award as follows:  for 250 tickets sold $3,000 for 1st and $750 for 2nd and, if more than 400 tickets sold, $5,000 for 1st and $1,500 for 2nd.
  10. Should the winners chose the travel package, they will work with Peirson Travel Services, 635 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228 (410-788-8300) to make any and all travel arrangements.  The raffle winners can arrange any and all travel without restriction BUT in no case will the value of travel awarded exceed the prize limitations of $6,000 and $2,000.  Should a more expensive trip be arranged, it becomes the responsibility of the Raffle Winners to make up the difference in cost from their funds.  First Step will not refund the difference between cost and the prize money to Raffle Winners should the travel cost less than the prize amount. Raffle Winners agree to hold First Step harmless for any and all claims once they are notified of winnings and agree to arrange travel with Peirson Travel Services within 1 year of notification.
  11. The Raffle is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and is void wherever prohibited or restricted by law. Raffle Winners are responsible for all applicable taxes as a result of any winnings.
  12. Purchasing a raffle ticket is NOT deductible as a charitable donation.  Individuals may choose to make other separate donations if they wish.
  13. The Net Proceeds of the Raffle are for the benefit of First Step Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered with the Secretary of State of Maryland.
